Education is a matter for the individual federal states: this organisational form is therefore different in Hesse than in other federal states. On top of that, there are also regional differences.
Our Beratungs- und FörderZentrum (BFZ – Counseling and Support Centre) is attached to the Schule am Budenberg. Accordingly, special-needs teachers also work here. They work, so to speak, in the school’s “field service” at mainstream schools. In the primary school sector from “Mandeln to Sinn”, they are deployed at a total of 33 primary schools, and in the lower secondary sector at 12 schools. The teachers form a collegium of their own.

The MISSION:
- wherever possible, to support the local, natural and thus inclusive schooling of all children.
- Counseling of families and schools on all special-needs education topics.
- Inclusive teaching and support at mainstream schools.
- Supervision of special projects such as the Family Class.
SPECIAL-NEEDS TEACHERS are teachers who have specialised in their field. Each of them has studied a subject such as German, Mathematics, etc. Just like primary-school teachers teach their main subject and Hauptschul- and Realschul-teachers teach all of their studied subjects, we are allowed to teach up to grade 10. In Mathematics and German, we all have a “basic training”. In addition, we also acquire specialised, studied expertise in at least two “focus areas”. These are called “Learning, Emotional and Social Development, Cognitive Development, Language, Physical and Motor Development, Hearing or Vision”. On top of that come the fields of counseling, medicine, psychiatry and psychology.
